Contemporary Posters
Contemporary posters are prints
that feature movie art, movie stars, music stars, television
shows, television stars, as well one-sheet sized prints created
to commemorate an anniversary of a classic movie such as Casablanca,
Dr. Zhivago, It's a Wonderful Life.
The artwork or pictures on these prints may be not be contemporary.
For example, contemporary posters of James Dean are designed
and printed today, even though they may feature pictures and
publicity photos of him that are over 45 years old.
Contemporary posters are printed on high quality paper and
typically measure 24 x 36 inches or less (one-sheet commemoratives
and life-size posters are larger).
Contemporary posters should not be confused with machine-rolled,
shrink-wrapped commercial
posters that are printed in mass quantity. Even though contemporary
posters are relatively inexpensive compared to hand numbered
"limited edition" prints, print runs can be very small
and they may be available only for a limited period of time.
